Our Past Presidents
ADV. PRAKASH L.SHETTY
(Year 2000-2003)
Adv. Prakash L.Shetty, was one of the four members with Founder Thonse Jayakrishna A.Shetty, Dr.Sanjeeva Shetty and P.Dhananajaya Shetty who formed the samiti on 05/09/2000. Thereafter he served in the committee as President till year 2003. It was very difficult task to convince people with the objects of the Samiti at that initial stage but under his leadership Samiti could get support from all the community heads and Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti was formed.
Major Projects successfully handled during his tenure were – Lease Extention of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company, Historical procession by participation of nearly 10000 trade union leaders & members, Highway Road projects improvement, Airport issues, and a Feliciation function at Buntara Bhavana on 26-07-2003 in support of Respected George Fernandes sir, was organised in grand scale.
ADV. SUBHASH B.SHETTY
(Year 2004-2007)
He successfully organized a symposium in support of 5008 crores Nagarjuna Power Plant with slideshow in the presence of community Heads, presided over by George Fernandes Sir on 30th November 2004. Thereafter another meeting wads held at Udupi, Shamili Hall on 20th July 2005 and a visit to Dahanu Tata Power Project to study the environment and public life – headed by then advisor L.V.Amin. Many Press Releases given which resulted in good support for the Power
Project at Nandikoor.
SHRI VISHWANATH MADA
(Year 2007- 2009)
During his presidentship maximum Press Conferences were held in support Nagarjuna Power Project . 7th Anniversary was organised on 1st December 2007 at Buntara Bhavana – Presided over by George Fenandes Sir. On 11th September 2008 then Karnataka Coastal Department Board Chairman Shri. Nagaraja Shetty visit at Billawa Bhavana, during meeting who complimented the work of the Samiti by saying “It is a Unique Organisation (NGO) in the Country, representing all the Communities of Coastal Karnataka for the Noble cause of Home Town Development”.
During his tenure Samiti’s Vision Plan for next 100 years was submitted to Shri.B.S. Yediyurappa, then Chief Minister of Karnataka at Pejawar Mutt, Santacruz Mumbai.
SHRI. THONSE JAYAKRISHNA A. SHETTY (Year 2009 - 2012) :
During the above period under his presidentship, samiti organised Vanamahotsava with the support of other Charitable Organisation at Native place. As the Power Project was already commissioned UPCL site office was visited, many Press Conferences were held, Meeting with then Chief Minister of Karnataka State Hon’ble Sadananda Gowda ji, As a part 10th Anniversary of the Samiti , 10 members of the Society were felicitated with “Sir George Fernandes Sadhaka Award” for their outstanding contribution to the Society and to the Samiti.
SHRI HARISH KUMAR SHETTY
(Year 2012-2015)
During his tenure 13th Anniversary was organized on 24th February 2014 at Buntara Bhavana, with honouring of three senior members of the Samiti i.e. Shri.M.D. Shetty, Shri. P.K.Salian, Shri Shimunje Parari. Samiti got vide publicity through Media Advertisement.
Organised a very strong opposition by Samiti to Niddodi Power Project through press meets. Samiti Strongly supported ban for the use of Plastic bags to protect Environment.
In July 2014, an Industrial study tour to Goa was successfully organised -meeting with Central Minister Shri. Shripad Naik sir, at his residence in Goa. Most of the members attended and enjoyed.
SHRI DHARMAPAL U.DEVADIGA
(Year 2015-2018)
He regularly visited Mangalore & Udupi ,Very good follow up of Adani / Udupi Power Corporation Limited regarding their failure in keeping the commitments before starting the Power Project. He with Founder took up all the issues regularly through Press meet, Public Supports which made UPCL now Adani Power Projects Ltd, regularize various points/ compensation etc.
Nagarjuna Company officially wrote to the Samiti about our support to them and welcomed our Team to the Plant for inspection of safety Control,Pollution Controlled production process at the plant.
16th Anniversary was organised in a grand scale with open session for general public.
SHRI. THONSE JAYAKRISHNA A. SHETTY (Year 2018 - 2021) :
In 2019 1st SIR GEORGE FERNANDES MEMORIAL NATIONAL AWARD was introduced and awarded to Padmavibhushan Dr.B.M.Hegde ji.
1st AGM with public function was organised . Symposium of All round development of Coastal Karnataka” was very successfully organised in Mumbai.
Regular activities like Press Meet, Meeting Political / Social Leader at State and National Level continued.
SHRI. L.V. AMIN (Year 2021- 2024) :
Presentation of Sir George Fernandes Memorial National Award – 2023 to “Green Hero of India” fame Respected Dr. Radhakrishna Nair and In year 2024,this award Presented to Padmavibhushana Dr.E.Sreedharan ( Metro Man of India).
Took up Beach Cleaning work at Coastal Karnataka, Fund Raising for the Samiti, Press meet. Suggested Permanent Solution for Sea Erosion during rainy season by having permanent concrete work at the Coastal Belt, promoting Tourism , Industrial zones, at selected areas by acquiring land on payment of proper compensation and mobilization system.
Symposium Actively involved many political leaders in our thinking process for development.
